Kiel Eden Felts

Director of Operations

Kiel is a true Floridian, born in Pensacola and raised in Bradenton from the age of four. He started out his veterinary career at the age of fifteen when he began working as a Kennel Technician with Desoto Animal Clinic in Bradenton. After graduating Manatee High School in 2003, Kiel joined the U.S. Army where he was part of the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps for ten years. Kiel worked with multiple Military Veterinary Facilities around the world in places like Japan, Egypt, Israel and Cuba as well as around the United States. While in the Army, Kiel cared for Military Working Dogs and the pets of the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen lived on the bases and in surrounding areas.

After being Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Army in 2012, Kiel moved back to Bradenton in order to pursued his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration at the University of South Florida. While attending USF he also honed his veterinary knowledge working full time at both Sarasota Veterinary Emergency and Bradenton Veterinary Emergency as a Veterinary Technician. Shortly after his daughter, Eden, was born in 2014, Kiel started working at the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center in their Veterinary Services Department. The Pet Resource Center is where Kiel and Dr. Sabshin first met and started working together to provide the best veterinary care possible for the pets coming into the shelter.

Kiel’s dream job was to be a veterinary practice manager and after a year at the Pet Resource Center, he sought out the opportunities to start managing veterinary practices starting with a corporate pet hospital in Bradenton and then a privately owner animal hospital in Brandon. Most recently Kiel had been the Hospital Administrator for a group of veterinary hospitals spanning from Brandon to Sarasota.

When Dr. Sabshin and Dr. Backus started planning for the opening of Harmony Vet Care, they invited Kiel to be part of the Board of Directors to help provide management and business insights as they worked to open and grow Harmony into the amazing non-profit veterinary hospital it is today. With the upcoming expansion of Harmony Vet Care’s Walk-in Vaccine Clinic as well as the recent extended urgent care hours, Kiel was brought on as the Director of Operations to help Dr. Sabshin and Dr. Backus continue to grow and improve Harmony. Kiel has a passion for animal welfare and enjoys the array of surgery and medical cases that the doctors of Harmony take on every day. He loves talking with clients about their pets’ needs and you will often find him loving on every pet he has time to play with.

In his spare time, Kiel enjoys being a father to his daughter, Eden. You can most often find them out on the water fishing, scalloping, lobstering, swimming and just enjoying the beautiful Florida weather. Kiel is a die-hard Alabama Football Fan as you can see from the decorations that will adorn his office. Kiel and his daughter live with their three dogs (Sargie, Carl, and Nicky), two cats (Squirt and Coco), seven turtles (Ariel, Jasmine, Moana, Maui, Pascal, Repunzel, and Maximus…guess who named them) and their turtles’ fishy friends.
